Modern Dormitory Complex of NEIMARK IT Campus Opens in Nizhny Novgorod
Almost 200 students of IT programmes at HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod will soon be able to live in modern co-living spaces with all the essentials for living, studying, and working. The complex on Bolshie Ovragi Ulitsa boasts 1,359 places and a dedicated ecosystem for fostering the development of future IT specialists.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Gleb Nikitin, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Anna Blyakhman, Director of the HSE Campus in Nizhny Novgorod, as well as rectors, deans, academic supervisors of educational programmes, and students of the universities participating in the project, took part in the opening ceremony of the student dormitories.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
We are starting the first stage of construction of the NEIMARK IT campus—18 new buildings. As part of the ‘Youth and Children’ national project, President Vladimir Putin set the goal of creating 25 world-class campuses by 2030. The key phrase here is ‘world-class.’ I believe the campus surpasses all global standards. It is not just a place for pleasant living and creativity, with public spaces, smart home solutions, and other features that ensure a safe and comfortable environment. It is a part of an educational space, which, together with the technopark, will provide a continuous chain of value creation for our country and its future.
Gleb Nikitin, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast
This is not just one of the successful projects initiated by the president. It is a symbol of Nizhny Novgorod’s transformation into a ‘city of the future.’ Just three or four years ago, slums were here, right in the city centre, near the Kremlin. What stands here now is not just walls and buildings—it is educational programmes, industrial partners, and the best students striving to join the NEIMARK programme. On the one hand, today we celebrate the completion of the first stage of the IT campus construction; on the other hand, we mark the beginning of a long journey. We want NEIMARK to become one of the best universities in the world, so that its name becomes a symbol of top-quality education in every corner of the globe.
The governor underlined that the IT campus is an illustrative example of how new major scientific and educational complexes can seamlessly be integrated into the historic core of the city.
Anna Blyakhman, Director of the HSE Campus in Nizhny Novgorod
It is a true joy to live and study in a space that combines a high level of fundamental knowledge, a technological infrastructure, and a community of scientists and experts at the forefront of science, shaping our scientific and technological future.
The first completed stage—18 dormitories with 1,359 places—was unveiled to the guests. The infrastructure of the student city features fitted-out rooms for students, individual study areas, public spaces, underground parking, and rooms which will soon host coffee shops and other retail facilities.
The modern dormitory complex stands out not only for its comfort but also for its high level of technological advancement. ‘Smart’ solutions have already been introduced, including the Albacore automated building management system. Additionally, an AI-based system developed by partner company NTechLab ensures safety and order throughout the student campus.
NEIMARK and Sber created a new comprehensive solution which implements ‘smart home’ technologies in student rooms, interactive equipment and services for studying and working, as well as the AI-powered GitVerse Education Pack platform. As part of the solution, the GigaDoc multimodal medical assistant, which utilises AI, was also introduced. Using facial video imagery, it assesses a person’s state of health: pulse, body mass index, risk of type two diabetes, cholesterol level, and other indicators. This solution will be proposed for implementation in other new campuses across Russia. Once the IT campus project is fully completed, it is expected to accommodate more than 8,000 students from the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as other parts of Russia and the world, allowing them to pursue advanced digital professions.
The IT campus project will be implemented in five stages. The plan calls for the construction of approximately 220,000 square metres of living spaces, classrooms, and laboratories. In the second and third construction stages, two hotels for students and lecturers will be built. The fourth involves the construction of an academic building with a fitness and wellness complex and a conference centre, while the fifth and final stage will add a research and education hub. Construction works are well underway.
HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod currently offers two joint programmes with the NEIMARK IT campus: the Bachelor’s in Artificial and Augmented Intelligence Technologies and the Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision.
