‘You Are Our Future’: HSE Rector Visits Perm Campus on Knowledge Day
On September 1, 2025, Rector Nikita Anisimov visited the HSE Campus in Perm. During his trip, he took part in the opening ceremony of the new academic year and attended the traditional assembly of the HSE Lyceum in Perm.
At the start of the day, together with the Governor of Perm Krai, Dmitry Makhonin; the regional Minister of Education and Science, Raisa Kassina; the Mayor of Perm, Eduard Sosnin; and the Director of the HSE Campus in Perm, Galina Volodina; Nikita Anisimov congratulated the youngest HSE students on the beginning of the school year and on moving into their new building. The rector welcomed the lyceum students as full members of the wider university family: ‘You will feel like university students while still at school. That is a great opportunity.’ He praised the accessibility and the high level of technical equipment in the new lyceum building, and expressed gratitude to Governor Dmitry Makhonin for supporting the specialised school project and for his attention to students’ career guidance.
After the lyceum assembly, a special ceremony for first-year university students took place. In 2025, over 900 students enrolled in the educational programmes at the HSE Campus in Perm. Everyone who attended the event in the Grand Hall of the Perm Regional Philharmonic not only received congratulations from the Mayor of Perm but also heard words of encouragement from the HSE rector himself. Nikita Anisimov urged students to pursue their goals and to hold on to their values both during their studies and after graduation, and he thanked the teaching staff for their hard work and care for students. The Director of HSE Campus in Perm, Galina Volodina, echoed the rector’s words and congratulated the first-years on joining an honest and supportive university community. Mayor Eduard Sosnin also had some inspiring words for the students—words carrying special weight, as he is an HSE Perm graduate himself and knows what it means to be part of HSE University.
The new students met the heads of bachelor’s and master’s programmes, took part in a prize draw, and had their photos taken with the university’s mascot—the raven.
HSE Rector
My congratulations to our professors and lecturers! For many years, they have been welcoming first-year students to these walls and others, but of course each new student is a unique individual. Altogether this year, more than 20,000 students have been admitted to the first year at HSE.
My congratulations to all our students! You are in fact members of one big family—the corporation of HSE University. I want to give you one piece of advice, something I hope you will carry with you not only during your years at the university but also afterwards: remain human. Always. Stay true to yourselves, but let this always go hand in hand with being genuine people—friends, family members, worthy sons and daughters, loving parents, and true members of the university, people who understand the value of knowledge, of passing on knowledge, and of university culture. You are responsible for the reputation of our university far more than those of us standing on stage. You are our future. I thank you for choosing our university. Happy Knowledge Day, everyone!
Eduard Sosnin
Mayor of Perm
It is at once exciting, solemn, and calming to stand on this stage, because at HSE I always feel at home. HSE is, above all, a big family—that is absolutely true, and I can say this as a member of that family. Once you have entered HSE, this page of your story will always remain with you, and you will always be proud of it. For many of you, September 1 marks the beginning of a new life; for your teachers, it is a new time and an opportunity to pass on their knowledge. Enjoy the process, study with joy and enthusiasm, because this is truly one of the happiest times in life.
Director of the HSE Campus in Perm
Dear first-year students, I congratulate you on this very important day in your lives! I am delighted to welcome you to the HSE family and I believe you have a wonderful future ahead of you. After all, people do not come to us by chance—those who join us are motivated, serious young people who understand that this is a time to invest in their own future. And those efforts, as a rule, are rewarded with future success.
You are entering a unique environment—an environment where academic honesty and mutual respect are nurtured. We are ready to share with you the very best of what we have, the knowledge and experience accumulated over all our years at HSE. And in return, we expect from you diligence, persistence, readiness for serious work, and respect for the rules. Yes, it will not always be easy—but it will be interesting, and you will never be without our support. Best of luck!
